AFTERGLOW: A Mistake by Carl Shuker

Wednesday 6th March — Friends, family and fans gathered at Unity Books to welcome Carl Shuker’s latest novel A Mistake (Victoria University Press) into the world. The story revolves around a young female surgeon at Wellington Regional Hospital, and the reverberating implications of a surgical error.

On hand to launch the book were Fergus Barrowman, publisher at VUP, and fellow author Pip Adam, who praised the ‘audacious and artful’ book and the ‘breathing, beating characters in urgent, distinct, high definition lives.’ Carl then spoke and read from a section of the book, before fielding a few questions from Pip. Spirits were high, the signing queue was long, and a good evening was had.
