Tuesday 10th April 2018
A blustery Tuesday evening had Unity Books hosting the warm presence of Nicky Pellegrino, who was mid-national tour for her 10th book, A Year at Hotel Gondola published by Hachette NZ.
Our very own Dylan Sherwood kicked off the evening by announcing the winner of a signed copy – congratulations to Louise Davies! Then Nicky took to the stage, charming everyone with tales of family holidays spent sleeping on the floor of her extended family in southern Italy. Sarah-Kate Lynch was given due credit for being (partially) responsible for her making the move to New Zealand and (mostly) responsible for introducing Nicky to her future husband, from which she learned the lesson that age shouldn’t be an impediment to doing something a bit mad and impulsive.
The evening ended with a Q and A session, where Nicky answered questions from readers ranging from her favourite foods to cook, the potential perils of translation, and that the writing process is always better aided by carrot cake.
A Year at Hotel Gondola, published by Hachette NZ is available in store and at unitybooksonline.
