AFTERGLOW: Colin Hogg’s The High Road: A Journey to the New Frontier of Cannabis

This Friday lunchtime Unity welcomed in Colin Hogg to talk about his new book The High Road: A Journey to the New Frontier of Cannabis. Colin didn’t just want to talk about his book though. He wanted a good conversation on cannabis law reform and so the shop was also really happy to welcome cautious cannabis reformer, the Hon Peter Dunne.

What followed was an informative and entertaining discussion between Colin and Peter. The High Road is a travelogue that delves into the heart of cannabis reform in the USA, legislation for which differs markedly across states. This shapes the book into a deep philosophical journey to explore the differences in availability, uses and methods of consumption, not to mention the resulting differing levels of mind alteration.

This is a great cross section from which to examine the customs and behaviours that are shaped by different levels of reform. Colin gave a hilarious reading and there was great open, relaxed and thoughtful Q&A with attendees. Peter Dunne’s prediction for reform to really get underway? With a change in government this election legislation could be close to ready in around 5 years.

Reading from The High Road – his expression only hints at the strangeness of the situation the author found himself in during his time in Denver, Colorado
