AFTERGLOW: Shirley Smith An Examined Life

On Monday 10th May 2019 Unity Books was packed from front to back with people there to celebrate the launch of Sarah Gaitanos’ new biography Shirley Smith: An Examined Life.
Fergus Barrowman, veteran literary hype-man and publisher at Victoria University Press, started the evening off before handing over to Hon. Grant Robertson who eloquently launched the book. We then heard from Joy Tracey of the Winston Churchill Fellowship Trust shortly followed by the woman of the evening (alongside Shirley Smith), the grand finale, Sarah Gaitanos! The remainder of the evening was filled with book signing and stories of Shirley’s legendary legacy. What a life!

Sarah signing for the fans!

Hon. Grant Robertson. Always eloquent.
