Event Update: Sebastian Hampson

Unity Books Wellington kicked off its winter events schedule with a little French flair this past week. On Thursday the 12th of June, we were delighted to play host to an intimate lunchtime gathering, with bibliophiles and dedicated fans alike listening to local author Sebastian Hampson in conversation with Tracey Bridges. Our last brush with Sebastian was during Writers Week, when we helped launch his debut novel The Train to Paris; this time around, Sebastian and Tracey shared their thoughts about the book and its characters, before opening the floor to questions.

Sebastian’s readings from the book surely hooked him more than a few new fans – even from the few passages that he had a chance to share, a vivid image of the novel’s two protagonists was conjured up, and further elaboration on the motives and missions of the characters was equally illuminating. One passage featured a key character, Elodie, saying ‘I’m unwinding you, I hope,’ and through the conversation between Sebastian and Tracey, we had a chance to have the characters unwound for ourselves.
