On Tuesday the 16th of July Unity Books Wellington was proud to launch Ambiguity & Innocence, the 15th and latest book from leading historian Tony Simpson.
Ambiguity & Innocence focuses on New Zealand’s involvement in Trieste during World War Two and that period’s contribution to the complex history of the region. More than seventy history buffs packed the store for the launch, along with two veterans of the conflict.
Tony was introduced by the publisher of Silver Owl Press, David McGill, who read some stirring interview examples from the book. We then had the pleasure of having His Excellency Alessandro Sandri, the Ambassador of Italy, speak on the book’s importance in presenting a tumultuous period in his country’s history.
Tony then spoke of the extensive research he undertook, spanning countries and years to complete the book. His great knowledge and enthusiasm were very much in evidence before he signed off with his trademark wit.
