AFTERGLOW: Havana Coffee Works by Geoff Marsland and Tom Scott

Unity Books was rocked for a second time in two weeks on the night of Tuesday 22nd November, this time by the seismic personality of Geoff Marsland. Geoff is a baron of NZ coffee and Havana Coffee Works is the story of his life and business. Before taking the stage himself Geoff sent ripples of laughter through the crowd. No speakers were spared from his heckling including author Tom Scott and  photographer and publisher Grant Sheehan. Even Cuban ambassador, His Excellency Mr Mario Alzugaray Rodriguez, didn’t get a break.
Appetites were whetted for an intoxicating read with anecdotes of mistaken code names on a trip to Cuba and 3am egg smearing battles in Midnight Espresso. Freshly brewed Havana coffee was on offer pepped up with a dash of rum. Spirits were high and the party looked set to continue long into the night.
