AFTERGLOW: BREWED: A Guide to the Beer of New Zealand by Jules Van Costello

Is 12 noon on a Monday too soon for a sip of New Zealand’s finest Weiss Beer? Not at Unity Books Wellington, where this Monday 18th Sept Jules Van Costello dropped in to talk about the freshly published second edition of BREWED: A Guide to the Beer of New Zealand.

A veteran of the wine and beer industries, Jules is uniquely placed to offer a knowledgeable and impassioned appraisal of the 165 NZ breweries featured in the book. Key to a high rating for breweries is not only individual quality beers but breadth and consistency over a range of beverages produced.

A keen audience of beer appreciators was on hand to sample the tasters Jules had brought along, and to ask the tough questions about over-doing the hops, the contrasts between NZ and other international beer markets, and the pros and cons of big brewery buy-outs.

A big thanks to Jules Van Costello and publishers Potton & Burton.
