AFTERGLOW: The Night Watchers: NZ Nightscapes by Grant Sheehan

AFTERGLOW: The Night Watchers: NZ Nightscapes by Grant Sheehan

Before nightfall on Tuesday 7th November, Unity Books welcomed photographer Grant Sheehan to launch his new book of captivating night time photography, The Night Watchers.

Grant explained that The Night Watchers forms the fourth part in a series of photography books showcasing the landscape of New Zealand. Each book considers the NZ landscape from a different perspective, and for the fourth in the series Grant set himself the unenviable task of taking all of the images at night which, as he explained, lead to some long cold nights but also to some chance encounters with Aurora Australis that could not have been planned.

On hand to officially launch the book was fellow night-sky photographer Mark Gee, who recalled discovering Grant’s photography and celebrated the spectacular results of Grant’s hard work and dedication.
